ABOUT ME

Hi there! I'm Monica, and I've been a film enthusiast for over 15 years, honing my photographic skills along the way.

My journey into the world of film photography began in a high school darkroom, where I first discovered the magic of shooting and developing black & white film, and creating prints. Since those formative days, I've continued to cultivate my creative passion and immerse myself in Melbourne's vibrant film communities.

Over the years, I've expanded my expertise to encompass a wide range of film formats, from 35mm to 110, 120, and Super 8. My photographic style has evolved through countless hours spent experimenting in darkrooms, learning from happy accidents, diagnosing camera and film quirks, and most importantly, my unwavering dedication to capturing life's fleeting moments.

Portraits have always held a special place in my heart. There's something inherently captivating about people that I can't resist, which is why I love photographing friends and family - they're the most intriguing subjects of all.

WHY FILM?

Film provides us with a unique opportunity to slow down—to truly savor a moment. It allows us to immerse ourselves in a scene, absorb someone's story, and simply take a breath. In my experience, capturing and later viewing a fleeting moment on film evokes a deep sense of nostalgia, warmth, and joy. Film, to me, is a truly special tool for preserving those perfect moments.
